Sarah’s Story

Coming to Tech as an out-of-state freshman from Texas was intimidating, to say the least. I knew I needed to find a strong community of Christians who would keep me accountable and on track with my walk with God in the midst of entirely new situations and pressures. The problem was, I knew no one and had no way of knowing which ministry would be best for me. I ended up attending one of Chi Alpha’s events by chance the week before school started and decided to keep going to their events. I dove right in and started going to Word & Worship and attending small group the first week they started. I was a little hesitant at first because the size of the group was smaller than I was used to and it had a different vibe than my old church, but God soon overcame my worries and showed me that this was where I belonged! Chi Alpha is comprised of a close-knit group of people, but they are so accepting of everyone who comes that I found myself enthusiastically welcomed into the family right away. Throughout the year I saw how God easily brings people of such different personalities and backgrounds together, all because He is in their lives! I have never experienced such a deep sense of community before. The people in this group invest in each other’s lives and take the time to encourage one another and understand how things in their life are really going. I have absolutely loved growing closer to God with everyone in this ministry. Despite not knowing anyone when I first got to school, I ended up blessed with a large group of amazing friends who have their hearts set on God’s will. God has been doing big things in this group and on this campus, and I am so excited to witness what He’ll do next! To anyone reading this, let me be the first to welcome you to the family; we are all so excited to get to know you and live life with you!
