God is so good! Coming into college, this verse was placed in my heart: Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another–and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:25
At Virginia Tech, it was amazing how easily God gave me the opportunity to live out this verse as I started going to Chi Alpha. Chi Alpha has social events, prayer meetings, small groups, discipleship classes and Wednesday night services that give me the opportunity to be surrounded by people who love God and who truly desire to live to honor Him. The people I’ve met are so genuine and God has shown me so many things through the students and leaders to live a life that honors and glorifies Him! At the Chi Alpha fall retreat, God specifically revealed to me that He desired me to embrace and receive His perfect and eternal joy. He spoke this to me through three different people and then through His Word. He taught me that no matter what I face, I can have true joy and freedom in Him. His joy is not just happiness which comes and goes, but is an everlasting joy that we can take hold of anytime as we fix our hope and trust in Jesus!
God has used Chi Alpha as a tool to help me to learn more about Him, to grow in Him, and to freely share Him with the world! He has shown me that there is joy in telling others about Jesus! One day, my friend and I went with Chi Alpha to do evangelism on the drillfield. At first we just stood around the Chi Alpha table but then we were getting a little antsy, so we decided to go out and try to find people to talk to. We saw a girl going down to tie her shoes, so we decided to go over to her and walk and talk with her. She was an international student who had never heard the gospel before and did not know who Jesus was. So we shared the gospel and told her that Jesus loves her and desires a relationship with her! It was amazing! She had a really positive response and we invited her to Chi Alpha. God showed me the joy in sharing the gospel!
God is so good! He is my peace, my hope and my joy! He has put me on a journey and adventure that I have never gone on before but I have found it exciting and amazing no matter the circumstance as I place my trust in Jesus. He is so faithful!
And I will lead the blind in a way that they do not know, in paths that they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I do, and I do not forsake them. Isaiah 42:16 (ESV)
