Read: James 4:1-12
Devo: Some of you may have noticed by this point of Thanksgiving break that seasons away from community can often spark old sinful habits. For some college students, it is challenging to spend time with their friends from high school who they haven’t seen since they began living for Jesus. For others, the lack of structure and busy family schedule can be a complete distraction during the holidays. Sometimes, simply being back in their childhood home can be a trigger to old ways of life. The disruption of your normal college routine can bring you to a vulnerable time in your faith. Thankfully, Chapter 4 of James is packed full of wisdom to combat any spiritual backsliding that we may experience! I would challenge you to commit James 4:6-8 to memory today. Use these scriptures as your weapon against the enemy’s schemes! As you are fighting these spiritual battles, remember that your Chi Alpha family is always praying for you! Reach out to your life group friends to let them know that you are thankful for them and give each other encouragement from what the Lord is teaching you through the book of James!
Process with the Lord through the journaling questions!
Pray: Lord, I am sorry for the times that I have had friendship with the things of this world. Please, restore our relationship in the ways that I have made myself an enemy to you. Would you teach me how to resist the devil, submit and draw near to you during the remaining weekend away from classes.
